Using the US Census Bureau’s American Factfinder, it is possible to perform an extract of demographic data for a certain community and to compare that data to other communities and/or the national and state averages.

The following demographic extract compares Summit County, Ohio, the county encompassing the city of Akron, with Ohio state-level demographic data.

The data were extracted using a guided search in the American Factfinder. Under the people topic, older population was chosen. The Summit County and Ohio state geographies were selected (note that other geographic types are available). The 2012 ACS Demographic and Housing Estimates 5-Year estimates file is then chosen for display. From this point, the file can be downloaded in the following formats:
